Tracking Student Progress From Lynne Routzong, an inclusion/specia education teacher at Western Heights Elementary School in Eufaula, Alabama: "To ensure that each studet is meeting his/her goals in the regular classroom each special education student has a folder that contains a list of his/her objectives (taken directly from the IEP). Each time the special education teachers paraprofessionals and or volunteers facilitate a teacher to help meet these goals it is documented in the folder briefly. The folder is checked when entering aclass for notes on where to begin, what facts were/were not mastered and the like. The older is updated before the special teacher, aide, etc. leaves. This served as gerat documentation for the IEP, for teacher accountability and for parent teacher conferences. Once the process has been set up for each child, the time it take is minimal yet very much worth the effort. Regular class teachers also have the opportunity to document their efforts in the folder as well." |
